Ce très rare emblème se rattache selon toute vraisemblance aux cérémonies liées à la culture de l'igname, manifestant le pouvoir créatif et protecteur des ancêtres du clan. La patine profonde et les couches successives de polychromie ornant la tête - probablement de renard volant (grande chauve-souris) - attestent de sa grande ancienneté et de son usage répété.
