Catalogue Note

Frequently depicted on Mughal miniatures depicting scenes of courtly life, such chuskis found their place in stately gatherings as well as next to figures relaxing and lovers meeting, probably enjoying the araq or opium water they contained. A similar silver chuski is illustrated in: Mughal Silver Magnificence, XVI-XIXth century, Brussels, 1987, p.119, no.162.
