Catalogue Note

The Rasikapriya is a poem by Keshav Das that describes romantic themes and the behaviour of lovers in terms of encounters between Krishna and Radha. Topsfield describes how in this illustration the heroine (Nayika), in her distraction, has put her garland round her waist and her girdle round her neck, bracelets on her feet and toe-rings on her finger. In running excitedly forward she has collided with a pillar (Topsfield 1986, no.4).
