Description
- brass
with long slender iron barrel with moulded girdle and belled muzzle, inlaid over half its length with a series of silver flowering tendrils, with plain tang of conventional form, the lock with iron pan cut with a water-drain, hardwood stock carved with a bubri moulding about the lock, the butt struck with 'Haydar' control mark, with full brass mounts of conventional type cast in low relief, the butt-plate and trigger-guard each with plantain spray finial and struck with 'Haydar' control marks throughout, with small ramrod-pipes, oval escutcheon cut with the tiger mask cypher of Tipu Sultan
Condition
In general good condition, some wear and scratches to hardwood stock, part of brass mount (plaintain spray finial) missing to underside, areas of erosion and scratches to iron barrel and on brass mounts, one bolt missing near muzzle, as viewed.

In heart-shaped cartouches (twice), letters: H. Y. D. R. for ‘Haydar’ (an attribute of Imam ‘Ali as well as Tipu Sultan’s father’s name).
