Description

  • gouache heightened with gold on stout paper
gouache heightened with gold on stout paper, Maharaja Prithwi Raj (1503-28) resting against a bolster in the centre, the succeeding rulers of the house of Jaipur all kneeling either side, Maharaja Isri Singh (1700-44) kneeling at the bottom left hand side

In fair overall condition, slightly stained and rubbed, as viewed.

Catalogue Note

This ancestral portrait of the rulers of Jaipur has Prithvi Raj (1503-1528) at the upper centre, resting against a bolster. On either side of him are twelve descendants including Man Singh, Bishan Singh, Bhagwan Das, Ishwari Singh and Jai Singh.
