Description

  • Height 12 in. 30.5 cm.
seated on a rocky outcrop with the upper body turned to his right and the head sharply to his left, and wearing a goat skin cloak tied around the neck on his left shoulder and billowing in back, with grimacing face and unruly hair surmounted by a petasos.

Estate of Mr. and Mrs. Vilain, Brussels, acquired in the 1970s

Condition

As shown, vigorously mechanically cleaned, surface dirty, scattered chips and abrasions, particularly a small chip to the right cheek near the mouth, and to rim of right ear, wear overall to facial features particularly to nose, arms once restored, left shoulder with hole drilled for separately carved arm, separately carved feet now missing, with remains of rusted iron pins in holes drilled for attachment.
