Description

  • An Egyptian Bronze Figure of the Apis Bull
  • Bronze
  • Height 4 3/4 in. 12.1 cm.
the sacred bull striding on a rectangular base, the sun-disk with uraeus between his tapering horns, his engraved ornaments including a broad beaded collar, a winged scarab over the shoulders, an embroidered cloth with quatrefoils over the back, and a vulture over the hindquarters, the tuft of the tail with striated markings.

Condition

Shallow inverted triangle recess on forehead, once overlayed in silver, sun disk overcleaned on proper right side, nose rubbed, very slight wear to surface and engraved details, front and proper right side of base filed down to raw metal and repatinated.
