Condition
Canvas is lined (wax-lining). SURFACE: in good condition, generally; surface is compressed from relining (flattened craquelure throughout); while there is good retention of detail and color on right side of work, the darks at left are sunk UNDER ULTRAVIOLET: scattered inpainting throughout darker foreground, with craquelure fill-in; a repaired tear, about 10 in. long, beginning in sky and ending at base of sunlit tree; dots and dashes of inpainting in sky and water; dense patch of inpainting in rocks at center.
