canvas is lined. SURFACE: in good condition; stable craquelure throughout; mild frame abrasion along right edge; some staining to upper right corner. UNDER ULTRAVIOLET: scattered inpaints; two strokes correspond to branches in the trees above right; a concentration of inpaints along the right edge and another circling the foremost peasant at lower left.
