Condition
Simon Parkes Condition Report (2/15/2013): This painting has recently been restored. The paint layer is cleaned, and the canvas has been lined with a non-wax adhesive. The painting does not appear to have weakened or become stained over its lifetime. However, a thin but not insignificant break was made beginning in the red tree in the right, running up and across and sky, down through the mountains beyond and into the far side of the lake almost exactly in the center of the picture. The retouches are accurate, and the lining is effective in eliminating this
damage. There are essentially no further restorations. The picture should be hung as is, in its original frame.
