Condition

A detailed report for each photograph is beyond the scope of this condition report; those wishing condition reports on individual specific prints are welcome to contact the department directly. The strength and richness of the tonality of the individual prints varies from fair to generally very good. Some of the prints have yellowed with age, particularly in the highlights or at the image periphery. Handling issues, occasional deposits of original retouching, faint soiling, and minor edge wear are apparent on many of the prints. The heavy grey mounts are generally clean, with age-appropriate wear at the edges. Small typed labels are affixed in the lower right corner of many of the mounts. The lower right mount corner of 'White Swan – Crows' (no. 814) is creased and partially detached.
