Cupid Sulking: This work is in good condition. It bears a very dark patina that is possibly not original. There are scattered blemishes and a joint visible on the figure's left arm and right wing.

Catalogue Note
This pair of sculptures is one of only two known examples of this cast by Frederick MacMonnies. These works were originally conceived as the crowning figures for two elaborate multifigure fountains designed by MacMonnies for the dining rooms of the Knickerbocker Hotel in New York City.
