This painting is in fairly good condition. Lined. There are scattered dots and dashes of inpainting mostly visible in the dark trees at the right and left, and in the lower center register. There are a few minor dots and dashes of inpainting in the sky.

According to Bricher scholar Jeffrey Brown, "This may be the Indian Summer which T. Wigglesworth lent to the Boston Athenaeum exhibition in 1869 after Bricher had left Boston for New York (Alfred Thompson Bricher, 1973, p. 40).
