Description

multi-layered silk thread embroidered on linen with satin stitch, lattice work stiches and intricate knotwork, edged in lace. The number 5 stitched on the back in red thread.

This magnificent textile may originally have been the front robing of a splendid dress that was then deconstructed and the fabric reused for a Torah binder.

Fabric worn in parts. Edges fraying.
