Catalogue Note
The scenes on the body depict Chuppah, Praying before the Ark, Blessing the New Moon and Tashlich. The scenes on the base show a scholar, lighting Hanukah lights, father and son with lulav and etrog, Sabbath Kiddush, lighting Sabbath candles. The handles are engraved with a quotation for the Havdalah ceremony.
The lower handle ring is inscribed in Hebrew: "And the Jews had light and joy (Esther 8:16);" the upper ring is inscribed: "Light;" and the rear of the upper ring is inscribed: "1937, Shor, eternal light."
