Catalogue Note

This maker's mark is for a member of the May family of Frankfurt silversmiths, possibly Johann Heinrich Friedrich May (1751-1795) or his son Georg Wolfgang May II (1783-1812).  See lot 139 for a lamp by Cosman Damian May, also circa 1800.
