yellow silk thread on cotton with bobbin lace edging.
height 17 in.; length 66 1/2 in.
43 cm; 169 cm

This textile was specifically created to be folded in four parts and house the three Matzahs used at the Seder. The decoration is conceived in four scenes, the first panel with the blessing over the Matzah and a Seder table scene. The following two parts depict the four sons of the Haggadah: the wise son, the wicked son, the simple son and the one who does not know how to ask, each identified in Hebrew below the figure. These figures are based on the iconic images from the Amsterdam Haggadah, first published in 1695. The last panel depicts a Magen David surrounded by a starburst with the words in Hebrew For Passover.

A similar piece is in the collection of the Jewish Museum, Frankfurt am Main (89-134).
