rectangular tankard form with molded borders, applied with a brass plaque engraved in Hebrew "Sacred Society of the holy congregation Orosháza [5]624 (1864)," the back with c-scroll handle.

Condition

One base angle bent, dents in cover, lead solder repairs at seams.

Catalogue Note

The base is inscribed with the Hungarian city name Orosháza.  In 1836 there were only 542 Jews in the county where this town was located, but by 1870 the Jewish population had swelled to 6,255.
