Condition

Overall excellent original condition. This is large scale sculpture by the artist and shows considerable care from the prior owners. With on a few minute surface scratches, which are only visible on close inspection. The surfaces of this work are executed in a mirror-polished steel and thus it should be handled with care. The present model is rare to appear at auction, and this lot is a superb example of the form.

Catalogue Note

This is a later example of the “Volume” series produced by Ron Arad in 1989 at the One-Off shop in London.  It varies from the earlier, roughly constructed “Big Easy” models through its smooth, mirror-polished finish and lack of visible welding seams.  At first, the "Volume I" version was made using rough sheet metal, and later foam and upholstered iterations were developed.  The two-seat version of the model is especially rare and made in an edition of 20.
