Condition

Overall very good original condition. The chair with a few minute nicks, dings and surface scratches throughout the wood surface. The chair is a multi-board construction consistent with the model. With minor evidence of lightening to the wood surfaces from minor sun exposure. The wood selection of the seat of this rocker displays extraordinary coloration and deep figuring.

Catalogue Note

The Kita family enjoyed a close relationship with George Nakashima after being placed in the same internment camp in Minidoka, ID during World War II.  Yuri Kita worked in the tool shed and became friends with George when he came in to check out tools.  Later the Kita family moved to Bucks County and acquired the three lots on offer, and continued a close friendship with Nakashima for many years.
