Condition

Overall in very good original condition. With some minor scattered nicks and light surface scratches throughout the wood surfaces. With light surface dirt throughout all surfaces, consistent with age. With a few scattered minute white paint flecks to the surface of the central vinyl panel. The metal components and hardware with some light surface rubbing and minor discolorations consistent with natural aging of the material and gentle use. The lighting and radio features of the headboard are electrically stable. The radio and speaker have been replaced with a period example due to the original radio design's tendency to deteriorate over time. All other additional components to the headboard are original to the design. With no more than 4 minute scattered losses to the lacquered metal shades of each lamp consistent with age and gentle handling. The interior of these lamps each bear a Stilnovo manufacturers label. The inset fabric designs were created by Gio Ponti at the same time as the headboard was made and are set behind glass. There are glass panels inset in the two shelves immediately below the fabric panels. This rare headboard presents with a rich figuration in the wood surfaces. A dynamic midcentury Italian design that combines luxury with convenience and functionality.
