Description

  • Edgar Brandt and Daum
  • Table Lamp
  • base impressed E.BRANDT and shade engraved Daum Nancy France with the Croix de Lorraine
  • patinated wrought iron and acid-etched frosted glass

Condition

Overall very good original condition. With some minor surface scratches and rubbing to the patinated surface throughout. The exterior of the shade arm terminals with some minor rubbing to the patina where the shade rests consistent with use, and minor discoloration consistent with the natural aging process of the material. With minor surface dirt to the recessed areas. The shade in overall very good condition. The exterior of the shade with approximately 3 small and very minor surface chips that measure less than 1/8 inch. The bottom edges of the shade with very minor edge wear, likely from coming in contact with the wrought iron shade armature of the base. The acid-etched glass presents with a detailed surface that contrasts with the frosted decoration of the stylized leaf and geometric patterns executed in low relief. This decorative motif highly complements the stylized leaf pattern of the spherical standard. The socket and switch appear to be replaced at some point in the lamp's history. The lamp is functional and fitted with a US standard cord and plug.
