Condition

Overall very good original condition. The patinated surfaces present with a rich russet brown coloration throughout which serves to heighten the decorative detailing in the metalwork. The wrought iron frame with a few scattered minor surface scratches, areas of rubbing to the patina and surface dirt to the recessed portions of the design. This chandelier appears to retain all of its original hardware. Ceiling cap is shown in its entirety in the catalogue illustration. The glass elements present in overall very good condition. With a few minor inherent particulate inclusions and minor scattered air bubbles which are inherent in the making. Each of the shades presents with detailed gold foil inclusions and acid-etched decoration to the exterior. The coloration and decorative scheme is consistent across all glass elements. Three central shades are in good condition, however the middle shade is very slightly askew along one axis. The six exterior shades with some looseness in the mounts, however each remains stable and appears a result of the design, not an issue of the condition. One of the six outer shades has recently been professionally restored by a leading glass restorer to repair a minor loss to the smaller aperture adjacent to the lighting socket. A wonderfully luminous example of Brandt's collaboration with Daum, displaying dazzling gold foil inclusions which provide radiant highlights to the glass when lit and complement the stylized floral motif of the patinated bronze standard.
