Condition

Overall in very good and stable condition. There are no visible cracks to the glass tiles in either panel. The glass surfaces throughout with light soiling. The copper-plated zinc cames with scattered traces of surface oxidation, discoloration and surface soiling consistent with age, which is more heavily present on the reverse sides of the panels. An incredibly striking and graphic pair of windows from Wright’s “Northome” commission. Both panels retain their original oak frames which show considerable wear, discoloration and a few scattered small holes on the reverse sides from previous installations. The proper right side of each oak frame with the old profiles of where hinges were original attached. A modern wood frame has been constructed and affixed over these original frames, both of which are painted green to create a complimentary color composition against the red glass tiles. Additionally, a modern oak light box has been constructed over this framing system which integrates both window panels into one composition. Sotheby’s has constructed a simple white-painted wood light box which fits over these framing elements for exhibition purposes. All of these framing components and light boxes will be made available to the successful purchaser if desired.
