Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 12-14 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. The shade leading is beautifully rendered with fluid artistic lines, and displays a rich brown patina. The rare reticulated bronze and favrile glass base is in remarkably good original condition. The glass blown through the base reticulations appears to be original and undisturbed and is in very good condition, showing no visible damage or condition issues. The glass incorporated in the base with a few very small and minor open air bubbles and minor surface imperfections inherent in the making, and with some surfaces soiling along the perimeter contours adjacent to the bronze base. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base with minimal surface wear and rubbing consistent with age and use; the bronze surfaces throughout appear slightly dull and soiled and would benefit from being revitalized with a sensitive wax application. This lamp was originally designed as an oil lamp, and the base was later converted to electricity. The oil font retains its original burner unit, which was later adapted with a central electrical socket and pull chain. With a beautiful period drop finial that is in very good condition. A particularly strong example of this rare floral model, displaying an extraordinary glass selection distinguished by the dynamic “Confetti” background passages and vigorously mottled green and cobalt blue leaf tiles, all which impart the shade with a tremendous sense of visual depth and movement. The shade and base pairing are particularly harmonious and desirable.
