Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 40-45 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, many of which are exceedingly minor and located on very small tiles. (This is a relatively low number in proportion to the vast number of glass tiles that were required to execute this complex and monumental shade.) The patinated bronze base displays a particularly rich and deep russet brown and green patina. The bronze surfaces with some occasional light surface scratches and surface abrasions, light rubbing, surface soiling to the recessed contours around the applied coil decoration, and with a few very small and minor traces of surface oxidation, all consistent with age and gentle use. As is commonly seen, the outer perimeter contours of the cushion base with a few small surface bruises. Four sockets and paddle switches appear original and undisturbed, and with two old replaced sockets and paddle switches. With a period “Pig Tail” finial which displays a corresponding patina to the base. The top of the finial is slightly bent askew, and with a few small surface abrasions along the perimeter contours. An exceptional example of this dynamic model, distinguished by a highly artistic and deeply saturated glass selection. The Peony band is beautifully articulated and displays wonderful visual movement. The upper geometric register is distinguished with vigorously mottled glass with deep cobalt blue accents. The lamp displays beautifully in person with strong visual impact and elegance.
