Condition
Overall very good condition. This pendant lamp was originally in the collection of the Förberedande Industri Design Utbildning, Hällefors, Sweden, a leading design institute in Sweden. The present condition of the work demonstrates the care of the owner. The hardware with some minor discoloration consistent with the natural aging of the material. The shade presents when viewed in person with a brilliant saturated red color, and show some very minor surface scratches and rubbing. The red surfaces with some rubbing and light surface wear to the red enameled surface. The largest red shade with some concentrated rubbing to the lacquer adjacent to the center finial, which is consistent with the design and use. Once the finial is installed it covers the majority of the wear. The second shade is sitting slightly askew at present along one axis as the frame appears to be very gently bent This is easily conserved by a professional restorer. The smallest shade with minor wear and minute losses to the lacquer concentrated to one side. The gilt interior, which was designed to amplify the light when illuminate, is a rare detail include by Henningsen for a short period of time. This interior gilt surface with some discolorations from age and some fingerprints as a result of handling. This pendant lamp presents in a very nice scale and color. This lot is offered without celing plate which was part of the original design. This also allows for the drop to be varied as desired. The present cord extends approximately six feet inches above the shade. A very nice example of the model with wonderful provenance.
