Condition
Overall very good condition showing gentle use. The surfaces of the chair frames are limed, which vary across the surface of the frame inherent in the design and visible in the catalogue illustration. The surfaces throughout are slightly rough which is the intent of the design, and not an issue of condition. Each chair shows minor, nicks, scratches and dings consistent with gentle use. The caned seats are in very good condition and possibly replaced at some point in the chairsÂ’ history in a manner and material consistent with the original design. One chair with three small breaks to the cane spread across the seat and the seat remains stable. The coloration of the chair frames and caning across the collection are consistent. A wonderful large offering of this iconic chair design from the Chandigarh commission.
