Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 25-30 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. The patinated bronze oil font, which is integral with the shade arms and electrical socket, sits freely on top of the pottery base and is not further stabilized, allowing for movement. As a result the shade presently sits slightly askew. The Grueby glazed pottery base is excellent condition, with no evidence of any prior restoration. The glaze is particularly deep and rich in color with strong veining. The pottery base with some occasional minor surface irregularities inherent in the making, and with a few light surface scratches and a few very small and minor glaze flecks to the outermost raised contours of the stylized leaves. The oil font unit was converted to electricity (most likely in the period) and is fitted with a single central electrical socket. Both the socket and switch appear to be period. This unit displays an exceptionally rich russet brown and green patina, with a small isolated area of surface oxidation to one shade arm. A highly complementary shade and base pairing, with strong coloration to the shade.
