Provenance

Condition

Overall in good condition. The shade with approximately 20 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. There is evidence of leading separation to the very top geometric tile border just below the top aperture ring. (This area appears presently stable though as a future precaution would benefit from being stabilized with sensitive restoration). With evidence on the interior of the shade with prior restoration to the leading in one small localized area. The leading in this area is slightly heavy-handed and of a slightly varying coloration. It is likely that up to 4 glass tiles in this area were replaced at the time of restoration, as suggested by their slightly varying coloration and texture. The gilt bronze base with some light surface wear, surface soiling and some isolated areas of surface discoloration consistent with age and use. The three gilt metal sockets and gilt metal pull chains appear to be original and undisturbed. With a period gilt finial by Tiffany Studios which has a corresponding patina to the base. This final has been drilled through the central top knop, and presently sits on top of the shade and is lacking a threaded pin to further secure it to the base wheel. (If desired the finial knop and threaded pin could be easily replaced.) An attractive example of the model displaying an artistic glass selection distinguished by the dramatic color transition in the background passages and vigorously mottled glass selection.
