Condition
Overall in very good condition. This is an assembled set and therefore the patinas and colors in the glass selection vary slightly in each piece. The bronze surfaces show gentle rubbing and light surface soiling in some of the recessed contours consistent with age and use. With some concentrated minor areas of discoloration consistent with gentle use. In the bullet lamp, the favrile glass which is blown through the bronze reticulations in the shad, appears to be a later replacement, which was sensitively executed. There appears to be replaced period glass in seven elements in this desk set: rocker blotter, paper clip, picture frame, bookstand, scale, twine box, and small rectangular box. All of the inkstands are fitted with later clear glass inkwells. The large inkstand with ink staining to the bronze adjacent to the glass inkwell. The scale with minor lifting at the edge to the paper guide. The day calendar with rubbing and scratches to the wooden base, which is consistent with gentle use, and the inset paper calendar with minor edge wear and tears to the first few pages. The pen wipe with staining and discoloration from age to the chamois fabric and losses to the silk fabric of the cutout portions of the design. A rare opportunity for collectors to acquire sucha large and comprehensive set in this pattern.
