Condition
Overall in very good condition. The favrile glass shade is in excellent condition, with a few very small and minor air bubble inclusions inherent in the making. The top aperture rim of the shade with a minute edge fleck, which is not visible once the shade is installed in the base. The shade displays beautifully defined feather decoration with strong color and iridescence. The counter-balance base with an exceptionally rich russet brown and green patina with light rubbing consistent with age and gentle use. The base appears to retain its original socket, paddle switch and bronze screw terminals which secure the shade. The socket presently lacking a screw to one side, which is allowing the socket to separate slightly adjacent to the paddle switch, as seen in the catalogue illustration. For regular use, Sothebys would recommend replacing the absent screw. A fine example of this counterbalance lamp model.
