Description

  • Gilbert Rohde
  • A Rare Floor Lamp
  • painted steel, brass and lacquered copper

Condition

Overall very good original condition. This very rare lamp retains its original paint with scattered surface scratches, minor rubbing and minor losses to paint throughout, as seen in the catalogue illustration. The lower portion of the frame (red painted elements) with more concentrated losses, consistent with use. The lacquered spun copper shade with a few scattered spots of discoloration consistent with the aging process of the material. The socket and switch appear original and undisturbed. The cord, which was removed from the catalogue photographs, comes out of the end of the white painted standard. A very rare offering in very good original condition. A strong sculptural presence when viewed in person.
