Overall in very good condition. The surfaces of all four of the sconces have likely been sensitively re-gilt. The gilt surface present with minor nicks, dings, gentle rubbing and some traces of discoloration. The wiring appears functional, however has been cut and Sotheby’s will not guarantee the electrical stability. The glass beads appear original with a few minor losses and rubbing. Approximately 17 strings of glass beads are presently loose (and become detached when not installed), because the affixing hardware is bent slightly. These are easily re-attached once installed. Approximately thee rows lacking at least one or two beads. Four of the arms with evidence of bending as seen in the catalogue illustration. The fabric inset which covers the domed portion of the design immediately over the socket are a pink silk, which are only minimally visible once the sconces are installed. Please contact the department to received photographs of the sconces as installed in the exhibition to see all four sconces in the offering. An elegant design with nice proportion.
