Catalogue Note
The vases possibly commemorate, on the vase bearing the initials C and A, the betrothal or marriage of Princess Clémentine of Orléans (1817-1907) to Prince August of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1818-1881) in 1843; and on the other vase bearing the initials L and V, the marriage of her brother, Prince Louis of Orléans (1806-1896), Duke of Nemours, to Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg and Kohary (1822-1857) in 1840.
