each reserved in the center with a titled scene within an elaborately patterned border on the rim, with a carved giltwood frame, all with Dresden marks in blue and inscribed titles, two with pseudo shield marks in underglaze-blue.

Catalogue Note
The plate reserved with a scene from Wagner's opera, Lohengrin is painted by A. Lamon, signed. The painting is after August von Heckel and is titled 'Lohengrins Ankünft/ Theodore Piseis' on the reverse. The other plate depicting a scene from a different Wagner's opera, Mastersingers of Nürnberg, is also painted by A. Lamon, signed, and is titled 'Meistersinger von Nürnberg/ Th. Piseis' on the reverse along with a short excerpt from the first act of the opera. The third plate painted by Vorberger, signed, with a pope pouring punch to his glass is titled 'Für Durstige Brüder' on the reverse.
