Condition

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This painting has been lined using wax as an adhesive. The paint layer is beginning to become unstable, particularly in the heavy white paint in the ducks. The lining can easily be changed and the paint layer consolidated. The original paint reads quite strongly under ultraviolet light, but there have been some retouches added to diminish some thinness in the darker colors, particularly in the upper left. There is very little retouching in the white ducks themselves, and it is only the slight hints of abrasion here and there that have been retouched. It is recommended that the wax lining be reversed and the painting be cleaned and retouched where necessary.
