Catalogue Note
Rare illustrated Iranian military intelligence handbooks on Iran, part of a series by Razmara, which describe in addition to a thorough physical topography, "an exhaustive and admirable fund of information on the economic, social and political peculiarities of Iran's various provinces." (M. Reza Ghods. The Rise and Fall of General Razmara, (Middle Eastern Studies Vol. 29, No.1 (Jan., 1993), pp. 22-35). Razmara (1901-1951) studied at the military academy of Saint-Cyr in France and after a successful military career, including head of Military Intelligence and three-times joint Chief-of-Staff, became Prime Minister in 1950. The titles here comprise: The Border Regions of Iran (including Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq and Turkey); Isfahan and Bakhtiari; Khorasan; and Gorgan and the Caspian Sea.
