Catalogue Note

Maximilian travelled in Egypt, Nubia, Palestine, Syria and Malta in 1838, accompanied by the artist Heinrich von Mayr. This work, which contains different subjects from those in von Mayr's earlier Malerische Ansichten aus dem Orient (Leipzig, 1839), contains many fine, often lively views, costume studies and interiors. The work is uncommon.
