26 photographs (from 163 x 225mm. to 220 x 290mm., or the reverse), comprising: 11 colour tinted photographs (photochroms) of Constantinople by Photochrom Zürich, each captioned in gold in the image, 4 albumen prints of Constantinople by Sebah and Joaillier captioned in French and signed in the negative and 11 collotypes of Athens, preserved in an early twentieth-century crimson cloth portfolio, portfolio skillfully rebacked

Catalogue Note

A photochrom is a colour photo-lithographic process, produced from black and white photographic negatives, which was invented by Orel Füssly of Zurich and patented in 1898. Photochroms of Constantinople are rare.
