Catalogue Note
Important map of the Russian Empire, prepared by Strahlenberg from personal observation supplemented by the best contemporary Russian sources, and engraved by Frisch in Berlin, to accompany his book on Russia; this example, however, appears to have been sold separately, coloured and folded to fit into a large folio-sized composite atlas; although there is inevitable wear to the folds, this is in better state than many examples bound into the (considerably smaller format) book.
