Catalogue Note

A coloured copy of the rare English issue of de Gheyn’s classic illustrated military manual. Its aim was to train foot soldiers in the handling of the standard weaponry of the day: the musket, the pike and the caliver, a long-barrelled muzzle-loading shoulder gun.

“This beautiful  work was brought out in English out of compliment to the British levies, whose services had so greatly aided the United Provinces in their struggle for liberty” (Cockle).
