Catalogue Note

A rare instructional compilation designed to educate youth in the principal disciplines in Arts and Sciences, each depicted in diagrammatic form, with an accompanying explanatory text sheet.

Included in the work are two rare world maps; a small woodcut map of the Western Hemisphere in the leaf Cosmographie and large oval woodcut map of the world after Ortelius in Geographie. According to Shirley, this map is based on the world map in Belleforest's edition of Munster's Cosmographia published in Paris in 1587.
