first recorded edition, broadsheets (445 x 330mm.), woodcut title with large Gourmont device within an ornamental border, 17 leaves of woodcut charts within elaborate woodcut borders, with accompanying text pages, the text printed within ornamental borders, each leaf mounted on a guard, later half calf, spine gilt, lacking the engraved dedication plate, title shaved in outer margin, inscriptions in an early hand on title, some browning and soiling, small tears neatly repaired, loss to corners and outer margins restored

Included in the work are two rare world maps; a small woodcut map of the Western Hemisphere in the leaf Cosmographie and large oval woodcut map of the world after Ortelius in Geographie. According to Shirley, this map is based on the world map in Belleforest's edition of Munster's Cosmographia published in Paris in 1587.
