First edition printed by Plantin and the first edition with the Parergon and Nomenclature Ptolemaicus, folio (443 x 292mm.), Latin text, engraved title, "Catalogus auctorum" with 120 names, engraved portrait of Ortelius and 93 double-page engraved mapsheets, contemporary hand colour, contemporary calf gilt, title cut close and remargined, overall browning and some spotting to text, oxidization to green colouring, causing some offsetting onto text, first few leaves becoming loose, world map with slight abrasion at fold, bare female figures on title censored in black ink, some names and text from "Catalogus auctorum" obscured in black ink, neatly rebacked with some restoration to sides
