Oblong folio (335 x 395mm.), 40 double-page plates, each neatly numbered in an old hand, all but 2 with imprint of Dalrymple and date, no title or text but with 3 blank leaves at beginning (for manuscript title and contents?), contemporary green half vellum over boards, lettered on spine "Dalrimp wews" (sic), short tear in spine without loss

These coastal profiles display varying degrees of detail, some showing buildings, others merely outlines, and are of varying size (usually showing between 5 and 10 coastal strips to a double page). In order of appearance they include Brazil, Cape of Good Hope, Mozambique, Chagos archipelago, Arabia (Dhofar), Goa, Malabar, Choromandel, Tranquebar, Strait of Mallacca, Singapore, Sumatra, Coast of China (around Hong Kong and Hainan), Palawan, Lombok, New Holland, Java, Celebes, New Guinea and Formosa.
