Catalogue Note

Rare (only one copy is recorded at auction in over 35 years on ABPC, the Travis copy, sold in these rooms, 26 May 2005, lot 6). Count Andrasy was a Hungarian nobleman who fled Budapest when it was occupied in 1849 by the Austrians. He travelled in the east, visiting Ceylon, India, Java and the China coast, publishing this work in 1853, in Hungarian. He was the author of another work in similar format, Les chases et le sport en Hongrie (1857).
