A presentation copy of one of the rarest ornithological monographs with "beautiful hand-coloured plates" (Anker). It is devoted to the Barbets, noted for bristles at the bases of their bills, as well as their bright colouring, and found in Central Asia and northern South America, sub-Saharan Africa, and South-East Asia.
