È cosi? Perchè vorei scrivere per avere una fotogr: ne costume dell' opera...”). 1 page, 8vo (24.5 x 15.5cm), autograph envelope, printed stationery of Via Verdi 4, Milan, Christmas Day 1912; the second letter, to a lady, expressing regret that he can only offer her a single ticket for the opera, 1 page, 8vo (c.21 x 14cm), printed stationery of the Hotel Bristol, Vienna, “sabato sera”; together with large photographs signed by Martinelli (as Otello, in 1945), Milizia Korjus, Doris Dorée and June Hess Kelly,

Catalogue Note

Puccini's letter was written at the beginning of Jeritza's career; he praised her Tosca and her Minnie, but it was the role of Turandot that he wrote for her, and which she sang at the New York première on 16 November 1926.
