Catalogue Note

This charming sketch by the renowned Italian tenor Enrico Caruso depicts him in the role for which he is perhaps best known, that of Canio in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci. Caruso immortalised his portrayal of Canio when he became the first ever artist to sell a million records with the famous "Vesti la giubba" aria that closes the first act.
