Condition

Original canvas, slightly loose on its stretcher. Apart from some light surface dirt, overall this work is in very good original condition. Some of the pigments (notably the dark blue-black in her clothes and in her left forearm) fluoresce under UV light but these appear to be the artist's original and not retouchings. Held in an elaborate gold-painted wood and plaster openwork frame, with floral and shell motifs.
